About this Service

This is an initiative from the Office of Sustainability, who works with faculty, staff and students to implement sustainability planning and solutions on campus. The sole purpose of this platform is to act as an intermediary connecting drivers who have available seats on a trip with Riders seeking transportation for the same trip (collectively, the “Service”).

Liability Limitations

It is not the intent of our website to become a transportation service provider. To that end, The Office of Sustainability and the University of Vermont (“University”) make no representations or guarantees as to the following:

a. DRIVER QUALIFICATIONS

The driving skills, licensure status or competency of any of the drivers on this carpool/rideshare website. The drivers participating in this website have not been vetted in any way by the University nor have they completed the University's Authorized Driver Program and as such, have not had a motor vehicle record review by the University.

b. VEHICLE SAFETY

The condition or suitability of a driver's vehicle participating in this program has not been checked. The University is not responsible for ensuring the vehicles used in this program are well-maintained and safe for passengers.

c. INSURANCE

The University has not confirmed the existence or adequacy of the personal auto insurance of any driver participating in this carpool/rideshare program.

The University bears no responsibility or liability for any losses, property damage or bodily injury, suffered by participants as a consequence of use of this carpool platform and you agree to defend, indemnify, and release to the fullest extent permitted by law, the University from all claims, damages, liabilities, losses, expenses and costs (including legal fees) resulting from your negligence or intentional misconduct in utilization of the platform. The University will not be held responsible for any special, incidental, exemplary, punitive, or consequential damages of any kind related to use of this platform. Since this platform's singular purpose is to connect travelers on the same route or locations, the Office of Sustainability and the University of Vermont cannot be held responsible for any delay or cancellation of transportation, quality of service, or fitness of the vehicle used.

Registered users of this platform are expected to provide accurate information and to perform physical inspections of their own vehicles prior to proceeding with carpooling. Any payment arrangements made between travelers must be resolved by the parties since the University does not charge fees or commissions for this service and is not involved in any agreements made between parties.

Users of this platform are requested to confirm their Account using their NetID, email or phone number. The University does not look into the reputation, behavior, ethics, criminal history, or any other details shared by Users. You are responsible for using common sense and assessing whether other Service Members are suitable. It is recommended that you directly contact potential Drivers or Riders directly and exercise the same level of caution as you would when meeting someone for the first time.

You are the only one accountable for how you engage with other Users of this platform. The University is not liable for any harm or damage caused by your interactions with other Users.
